Rakurakuso (former residence of Gentaro Tanaka)画像

01 Rakurakuso (former residence of Gentaro Tanaka)

This is the former residence (Rakurakuso) of Gentaro Tanaka, a prominent figure who built the Kyoto Railway (the former San'in Main Line, now the Sagano Torocco Train) connecting Tamba and Kyoto. The Japanese garden, created by the master craftsman Ueji and the seventh generation Jihei Ogawa, is truly magnificent, and is currently used as the Ganko Kyoto Kameoka Rakurakuso.

02 Nango Park/Statue of Akechi Mitsuhide

The statue of Akechi Mitsuhide was erected to commemorate the wise general who laid the foundations for the city of Kameoka as the lord of Kameyama Castle, and to make it a new symbol of Kameoka, a place with which he has a connection. An unveiling ceremony was held on May 3, 2019, during the 47th Kameoka Mitsuhide Festival at Nango Park, where the statue stands. The statue was erected by the Akechi Mitsuhide Statue Construction Executive Committee, which was formed primarily by organizations within the city. The cost of erecting the statue was covered by donations of over 28 million yen from within and outside the city through hometown tax payments.

03 Kameyama Castle Ruins

Akechi Mitsuhide, under orders from Oda Nobunaga, built the castle around 1577 as a base for his invasion of Tamba. It is a flatland castle built on a hill (Aratsukayama) overlooking the Hozu River to the north, and it is said that the Honnoji Incident of 1582 was also fought from this castle. After subsequent repairs by Hashiba Hidetoshi (Kobayakawa Hideaki), Maeda Gen'i and others, the castle was completed in 1610 (Keicho 15) as part of a national construction program during the reign of Okabe Nagamori. At this time, the five-story main tower was constructed by Todo Takatora, who was known as a master castle builder. After the Meiji Restoration, the castle was demolished under the castle abolition law, but the current owner, the religious corporation Omoto, has restored the stone walls and other parts of the castle. Tours are available by application, and the moss-covered stone walls in the tranquil forest give a glimpse of the castle's long history.

04 Ojiyama Inari Shrine (Loser Inari)

王子山稲荷神社は、1747年、亀山藩主の松平信岑が丹波篠山から亀山藩へ転封された際に、丹波篠山の稲荷大明神を亀山城に勧請したのが始まりです。江戸時代、将軍上覧の相撲大会で亀山藩の力士は負けてばっかりでしたが、ある時、連戦連勝で圧倒する力士が現れました。それは実は、王地山稲荷の化身だったのです。以来、大勝利の守護神として信仰され、サッカーJ1の京都サンガF.C.の関係者も必勝祈願に訪れることもあるとか。

05 Circular Kameoka Lab

"Circular Kameoka Lab" is a new facility that opened on August 1, 2024, north of JR Kameoka Station. We hold events and workshops as a place where many people can gather, interact, and connect. Anyone can use the facility, so please feel free to visit.

06 Galleria Kameoka

This is a lifelong learning facility and roadside station in Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture.

07 Kameoka Mist Terrace

The "Tamba fog" that appears throughout the Kameoka Basin from autumn to spring is known as a landscape that symbolizes Kameoka. The view from Kameoka Mist Terrace is especially spectacular in the morning, so please enjoy the spectacular view.

08 Ishida Baigan Memorial Museum

Born in 1685 as the second son of a farming family in Higashikake, Higashi Betsuin Town, Ishida Baigan explored the nature of everyday morality and preached "Shingaku." The Ishida Baigan Memorial Museum, a lifelong learning facility that preserves, displays, and utilizes valuable collections and materials related to Ishida Baigan, opened in September 2025.

09 Anaoji Temple

This is the 21st temple of the Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage. The beautiful garden has been designated a Kyoto Prefecture Place of Scenic Beauty. The Shaka Nyorai Nirvana statue (Nadebutsu) enshrined in the main hall is said to bring healing if you stroke the area where you are ill and then stroke your body in return.

10 Yunohana Hot Springs

Yunohana Onsen is the inner sanctum of Kyoto, the capital city for a thousand years. Located in a quiet mountain valley about 7km west of the city centre, Yunohana Onsen is an old hot spring resort with a legend that dates back to the Warring States period, when injured warlords came here to heal their sword wounds. The clear air and seasonal natural scenery color the hot springs in the secluded mountain gorge. The tranquil and calm atmosphere exudes a simple elegance that cannot be found in the city. Reminiscing on the past at numerous historical sites where history and legends live on, such as Naeshuji Temple, Asahiyama, Kanzoji Temple, Anaoji Temple, and Hiedano Shrine, you will feel truly at home as you enjoy the heartwarming flavors of nature's bounty served directly on your table, such as wild vegetables in spring, sweetfish in summer, matsutake mushrooms in autumn, and local sake and botan nabe hotpot in winter. The hot springs are bustling with many families and groups from all over Japan, including the Keihanshin area, who come to enjoy a relaxing soak in the hot springs and the charm of the mountain village.

11 Kameoka Forest Station

Kameoka Forest Station was named with the meaning "starting from here." This is a theme hall that introduces people, industry, and manufacturing born from the land of Kameoka.

12 Hiranosawa Pond

平の沢池（ひらのさわいけ）は、農業用ため池で上池、中池、下池の３つに分かれる珍しい池です。「京都自然200選」に選定されており、１年を通じて多くの渡り鳥や水鳥が飛来する野鳥の宝庫として知られています。また、中池は全国的にも数少ないオニバスの自生地で、8月頃の早朝に紫色の花を咲かせます。

13 Izumo Grand Shrine

Izumo Daijingu is a shrine located in Chitose-cho, Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture. It is a shrine listed in the Engishiki (a Myojin Taisha shrine) and the Ichinomiya of Tanba Province. It was formerly ranked as a national shrine, and is currently an independent shrine that does not belong to the Association of Shinto Shrines. Its former name was "Izumo Shrine." It is also known as "Motoizumo" and "Sennen-gu."

14 Kounji Temple

丹波七福神の第5番札所で、商売繁盛、厄除けのご利益がある恵比寿さんを祀ります。境内からは亀岡盆地の豊かな田園風景を見渡すことができ、すばらしい眺めが味わえます。

15 Hozu Bridge

It is a steel-framed concrete bridge completed by local people in 1950 (1.8m wide, can accommodate vehicles weighing up to 2.0t). It marks the start of the Hozugawa River boat trip.
